What Do You Know About Snapbacks?

Hip-hop, despite starting out as a purely American cultural movement, has now grabbed a foothold all over the world. The music aside, you need only look at fashion trends and styles to recognize how much of a pervasive force it has become. From the “urban” clothes to “bling-blings” and other accessories, it seems to be all about making a statement.

Makes a statement more than integrating those “bling-blings” to a basic or classic item. Snapback hats such as the ones here have been around for a very long time, and they have undergone various minor changes to adapt to the changing of the times. Clearly, the emergence of the hip-hop culture did not go unnoticed by makers of this type of hats.

Take the Kings & Queens Original Embellished Snapback Cap, for example. It is such a stunning combination of edgy urban and comfortable basics. True to the nature of snapbacks, this particular item has an adjustable baseball cap that would fit all head shapes and sizes – needing only minor tweak – and an assortment of embellishments that definitely adds more flavor to what would otherwise have been just a plain black cap.

The outer part of the hat is reinforced with a gold plate. This alone would have caught anyone’s attention, but it is the front of the cap, all the way up to the crown and down to the top of the ears, that would immediately draw one’s eye. An assortment of gemstones, coins, and “sheriff badges” of golds, silvers, and bronzes, is interspersed with studs of varying sizes. The back of the cap, however, is devoid of any embellishments, its stark black providing a minimalist contrast to all that’s going on in front.

This is simply one of the many examples of how hats and caps, particularly the snapbacks, have evolved in recent years in response to the surge of hip-hop culture. These particular types of snapback hats may not be the most practical when it comes to protecting your head from the elements, but considering how even the uses and purposes of hats and caps have also changed through the ages, that is pretty much a moot point.
